The Reader
While driving to Hanover, I bought the audio version of the reader. I must say, I was somewhat disappointed by the book. Don't get me wrong, I liked it, but I think the way it was read kind of made it hard to follow. For instance, he would be talking about events happening in the 1940's, then would start talking about current events, only then to switch back to the 1940's. That was the only fault I found with the book.
It is such a sad story, the reasoning behind Anna's thought process and why she pleads guilty to crimes she didn't commit, just to hide a secret. I won't tell you what the secret is unless you want me to.
I haven't seen the movie. I usually don't see the movie if I have read the book. I find myself disappointed because the movie isn't how I interpreted the book to be.
Anyway, good book. Recommend.

New Image
A couple of weekends ago I drove over to Hanover, Illinois, where I used to live. One of my best friends, Nettie, took the leap and opened her own salon. She held a grand opening. It is so beautiful. Nettie, her husband Kyle, her parents, brother, sister, and their significant others all helped remodel the old doctor's office. It is now this great place to relax. So if you are ever in IL, just on the other side of Dubuque, go see her and tell her I sent ya!

Camera
I accidentally left my camera at work on night. Big Mistake. Some of the girls got a hold of it and this is what I found. It is our version of Nurses gone crazy...while at work on the night shift!

Chocolate Breakfast
On January 31, Gina and I went to Van and Bonnie's Chocolate Breakfast in West Des Moines. We got up at 445am and got there right at 5am. Not that many people there when we got there, but when we left at 630am, the line to get in was unbelievable. There were some really great things to eat. For example, chocolate covered bacon! I know, it sounds disgusting, but it was sooo yummy! It had that sweet and salty combo going on. I didn't like the dessert wines. Way to sugary for me. After all that, we went to Village Inn to eat some eggs and toast to counter-balance the chocolate. We want to go next year, so all who want to go, slumber party at my house!

Mindy's Baby Shower
Back in January we, as in book club, had a baby shower for Mindy. It was fun and of course we had great food that we shared with great friends. At the end will be some pic of me and Thomas, Mark and Mindy's little guy!
